This episode is the special-est, you guys.

In this super adult-sized four-hour episode, JKP tackles the latest scandals, controversies and general uproar regarding sexism and feminism within the realms of video games, comics and more.

Brandon, Tom, Josh and Harrison kick off the first half, giving their thoughts and opinions on everything from abusive game trailers to feminist kickstarters to overtly sexual comic characters. Then, in the second half, Brandon sticks around as moderator for perspectives on those same topics from Heidi, Sarah, Emily, Naty and JKP newcomer Jen. Ire is rised! Eyes are rolled! It’s one of our most concentrated episodes yet, and most certainly the longest. Put on those sincerity hats and (hopefully) enjoy!

Timecodes for the impatient (and who can blame them) are as follows:

The Boy Half: 0:03:10  –  The Girl Half: 2:11:30

Lastly, don’t forget to hit the jump for a comprehensive list of all the relevant topics, articles, trailers and videos that pop up during the discussions!

So if you missed the con, that’s basically what it was like sans the marauding stench of unwashed body and alcohol. Kudos to these guys for cutting this together. While watching it I realized I was just off screen in quite a few of their shots taking ze photos. I took a lot.  You can see the hi-lights here. I am not the best photographer. My camera and I did the best we could.

The nameless hero drives, that’s all he does. He works part time as a stunt driver for the movies, works in a garage, and moonlights as a getaway driver for thieves willing to play by his rules. He lives in near complete solitude until he decides to help his neighbor Irene and her young son when their car breaks down. Based on the novel Drive by James Sallis, the movie is as sparse and to the point as its source material. Continue reading »

Reasoning With Vampires grammatically dissects the Twilight Saga with the powers of logic and awesomesauce so I don’t have to. I seriously admire this girl’s dedication to this project because I would’ve got fed up and started tearing the books into tiny pieces for paper-mache. “And that’s a bad thing?” you’re asking yourself. Yes it is, because the books I read were on loan from someone who genuinely likes them. If I shredded her books, I would owe her new books. Fuck if I’m paying for this tripe.

We asked Naty & Sarah, two unassuming and delightful young women of the nerd-persuasion, to absorb an evening of willpower-fueled CGI with little-to-no preparation or prior context. This is their reaction…

Ryan Reynold’s face did its best, surrounded by CG goobledygook, to salvage a movie that might have been worth seeing… but to enjoy Green Lantern, you’d literally have to drink so much alcohol that you wouldn’t remember the film afterwards…

Brandon asked ever-so-nicely if I would like to add content to JKP! and I said yes. I’m working on a post about my experience playing Dragon Age II [picking up where Eric left off -ed] as a mage, a mage who romanced every romanceable character in the game, because the game presented me with that option, so how could I not?

More on that later. In the mean time, I’ve seen quite a few movies…
