Hey, guys. It’s Brandon. And I guess this is officially my rant/reaction column. Hi. Hello.

So hey, Nintendo’s passing on a traditional E3 press conference this year.

The reactions to this are all over the board, but the most interesting perspective is the one coming from some of the more significant game journalists and publications– namely that Nintendo is dropping the ball in a major, major way. Sessler’s chimed in, Game Informer agrees, and many others are now voicing their displeasure and concern over this sudden change of plans.

I usually reserve my opinions for the podcast itself (and I’m sure we’ll touch upon it in next week’s show), but this is one unexpected headline that I feel warrants a more immediate response. Because rare is the case that I feel like I have something to say to Adam Sessler.

I feel pretty bad. I have a couple articles that I’m 99% done with, but I keep having to tweak them because minor things keep happening. If I made a game myself, it would be Duke Nukem Forever all over again. But something happened today that bumps right up against our gender equality episode we had awhile back, something that perfectly illustrates the points I was making about being all for gender equality and fighting the good fight, as long as that fight is on the up and up.  Continue reading »

There are times when I wish I had a hobby whose community I could be proud of, a hobby whose fans for once in their angry, entitled lives took a step back and made a real effort into not being utterly ridiculous. Then I soon realize other hobbies have to deal with this as well and I’m brought back down to Earth, shaking my head all the while (I’m sure Harrison has to deal with fellow propmakers who whine about the cost of resin or some shit, but I digress). I laughed my ass off when I saw this. For those of you who aren’t in the know, let me explain: Activision Blizzard are the same people who ran Guitar Hero into the ground, had their entire Call of Duty staff leave because they refused to pay them what they were due after making the most profitable video game of all time, and is run by the Devil, currently known on this plane of existence as Bobby Kotick, a man famous for saying “I’d like to take the fun out of making video games”.
