“I self-identify as a painted baby boat.”
This week’s show finds Brandon, Eric and Harrison welcoming Zack back to the table for an evening of potato salad Kickstarters and a few recent games (like Entwined and Shovel Knight). Then, after the break, Emily joins the show to heap praise upon How to Train Your Dragon 2 (MAJOR spoiler warnings!) and the gang answers some last-second listener emails that almost didn’t happen.

About not being able to take damage, the first thing that came to mind was, that sex would not be as fun. wink wink nod nod
not to mention the mile long gandalf beard, eewww
So i tried to submit a bunch of questions during the episode using the handy-dandy form. did you guys get them or did i send them too late for the episode?
Might be a combination of both. Our handy-dandy form changed with the sudden site redesign, so there’s probably a hiccup of some sort. We were also playing that episode fast and loose, though, so they might have just missed us. We’ll read all of ’em, eventually, though, so thanks for trying to help salvage that segment!
okay, groovy. so i was going a little crazy with the questions. i was firing wild. you can pretty much skip the entire second e-mail i sent ya (which of course i sent more than one, because i’m a sad lunatic).
For those who haven’t seen it, I feel like Kris Straub (on his patreon, ironically enough) summed up the Potato Salad situation pretty well:

Money doesn’t matter on the internet, except when it does.
The JKP Kickstarter. Stretch goals include that for a $10,000 pledge you can eat cereal with the cast of Jump Kick Punch. http://cosplaymedia.com/jkp.jpg
I do so very much want to make it hap’n with the Cap’n.
You heard me.
At the $15000 tier, you get access to a live stream of Brandon paying his bills and editing the show every other Tuesday. At the $20000 tier, you get personalized video “get fucked” from Harrison.
The potato salad kickstarter has it all, douchbags, bland food, people throwing money at stupid things, everything that represents Ohio. He is creating his own mayonnaise scented hell, though, I’m sure
Also the exact moment when Jemy Irons blows out his voice in “Be Prepared” is when he sings “you won’t get a sniff without me!” You can hear the slight change in timbre after that.
So instead of sending the would-you-rather email I had written Sunday, I was busy Monday night tracking JKP crew faces to raptor heads. Then you needed more WYR emails and talked about being hunted by raptors. That’s weird and sorry about that.
Here, take all my JKP cool points, just take them! *covers dave in unicorn dust*
YAY! Thank you, Nik! I’m going to assume that unicorn dust is Slovenian slang for heroin or something. NIK, DON’T DO DRUGS! Except the cool ones…..I mean JKP cool ones.
dave, what is a JKP cool drug? :D if not “unicorn dust”, then I dont know what is
JKP cool drugs include (but are not limited to) alcohol, caffeine (very necessary), ibuprofen, nasal decongestant, weed (I guess for Zack? Or maybe he’s always like that?), and antihistamines. The refined powder from the horn of a unicorn might be JKP cool. Does it give you magical boners that make you fly when you think sexy thoughts?
I have it on authority that Zack is just always “like that.” He provides his own contact high.
So he’s the ourosboros of being buzzed?
oh god dave. I can’t stop laughing at that.
Dave, you’re way cooler than Coulier

Okay, last one for this episode, I promise.
Another Unsolicited: The JKP crew animates the Waffle Golem. (Also here’s your first piece of branded merchandise)

I watched about a minute of that fort video before I said “fuck this, I have better things to do”
Kickstarter has become such a toilet for stupid crap like this. Which is really sad for people who are actually trying to fund interesting and compelling media (like Doug Tenaples sketchbooks, or Armikrog, or even that great history of sega book)

Zack, it’s awesome that you came back! I hope next time you can talk comics because I have no idea what’s happening in comics anymore.
Harrison have you seen anything about Grid: Autosport? It actually looks like they went back to formula and removed all that stupid bullshit that made Grid2 terrible. I still wouldn’t pay full price for it but I think you should at least out it on a wishlist if you can get it half off or on a discount.
Zack does add a certain nonsensical charm that nicely balances Harrison’s saltiness. Good to have it back. Can’t wait to hear it again in another 5 months.
For some reason I feel like Shovel Knight is the perfect hybrid of Ducktails, Megaman, and Ghouls and Ghost. It’s totally awesome although when you make it to the Polar Knight the difficulty starts to spike pretty high.
I remember in a past episode everyone was talking about the kickstarter for sad pictures for children and how that guy burned his books instead of delivering them to the people who spent money to make them. It seems that not a week goes by where some horrible kickstarter story goes by. Today I saw a kickstarter for a 2D action game like streets of rage and then read the comments where everyone had given those guys over $40,000 what their goal was and they immediately put the game on hold, then they have the balls to start a new game and try to kickstart it without even delivering the old one! I am quickly losing all hope for kickstarter. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kilobite/knuckle-club/comments
Oops. I forgot to post a link to their original project that people backed for almost $40,000. Confederate Express. Kinda funny that their logo for their game is CONex https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/829559023/confederate-express/comments
Wow, what a disaster. After reading about that Kickstarted Yogscast game falling apart, then this, things *are* looking pretty dour.
It’s important to do you research are really understand what you’re hurling money at.
