“It’s… exactly fun!”  – Thomas W., JumpKickPunch.com

Hands-on adventures abound this week as Brandon, Tom, Sarah, Josh, and Harrison share their thoughts with Zack regarding Atlanta’s recent Nintendo-sanctioned Wii U event, including some first-hand accounts of Nintendo Land, Rayman Legends, Just Dance and more! Then, in an incredibly special second half, Zack and Josh square off as M.O.D.O.K. and his mismatched henchmen vs. the Avengers in a LIVE round of Marvel-based Heroclix. (Did I mention his henchmen are named Harrison, Tom and Brandon?)

Hit the jump for this week’s related videos and, more importantly, some visual aids for the intense clicking action of the second half!

I went to the event later in the day (thank god because there wasn’t any kIds there at 8pm). It really shakes my resolve when you consider that they have had over a year both making he system and building games for it have only 10-12 actual games to show of. I can get around the graphic issues since Nintendo almost all the way back to the N64 days has toted gameplay over graphics (making the system underpowered while making fun great games, this is why the N64 and GameCube were so great) and with current consoles they have been bringing hardware that engages the player in new and interesting ways, the drawback is they don’t have games that bring out the best aspects of the hardware. I said this before in a previous comment but making the screen controller a gameplay element like a camera for fatal frame or Pokemon snap would be perfect or even using it as a strategy map in games like dynasty warriors (while adding rts elements and havin the other character use wiimptes, kind of like that link game with Warcraft also) thy didn’t win me over until they take a better initiative in game developement, if not I’m with Harrison this could be he past system nintendo makes.

They had some competitions where you had to go through the 1st level of the new super Mario bros. 2 and my friend totally pulled a Harrison and ruined the speed run. Thankfully he made it up and won the donkey long competion. (which plays more like those cheap marble mazes that you use to get in cereal boxes when we were kids)

The new just dance should be called Just Dance Already!

You guys playing heroclix is comedy gold, if it wasn’t such a giant timesink I would have asked why you guys don’t try it at dragoncon but that would take a whole day to playthrough with all the fans going. Also i checked online and Heroclix are freaking cheap when buying in lots, I might just get into it for that. COMEDY GOLD!

I support the TGIF vs VH1 heroclix and would back it on kickstarter. You did say you thought about getting into toys Harrison.

And lastely, you know Zack dreams about running away with MODOK.

Wow, typing all this out on my iPhone totally stunk with major typos and grammar issues. Thanks apple for completely messing up what I wanted to say. :/

  2. Ah, Heroclix. Back in my college days I was an Official WizKids volunteer and ran Heroclix, Mage Knight and Mechwarrior events. Haven’t touched the game since graduation, but still have some friends who dabble so I hear stuff from time to time. Thanks to Heroclix the few times I’ve been to DragonCon I’ve made money.
The Original Ant-man clix figure was just an empty base because “he was just that small.”

  4. I was linked here from IGN, and I must say, this is a really great website. I just listened to my first podcast, and it was hilarious. Do you guys plan on covering Gamescom?

So glad you enjoyed it! I can guarantee we’ll be discussing Gamescom developments and announcements in a future podcast, and we’re likely to have an image gallery with photos from our frequent listener/contributor Nik and captions from our regular podcast member Josh.

Plus, if you’d ever like to hear us tackle a particular game or subject, we answer every single email we receive at podcast@jumpkickpunch.com .

Hope we retain some of these unexpected IGN visitors! Hard to get upset about an imposter when we get a satisfied new listener out of it.

  5. What got more web hits, your 100th episode, or today’s IGNgate phenomenon?

      Definitely, unquestionably IGNgate. Incomparable difference.

  6. How has the site traffic been today? Have the hits still been coming, or has there been a big drop-off since yesterday?

Still seeing a boost. Bigger day today than a typical day, for sure. Expect some final viewcounts to be shared in the next episode.

      • I’ve been playing alot of Persona 4 Arena this week, which leads me to believe this whole thing is the doing of Shadow Brandon

Kudos, Brandon, you’re a Persona user!

How is that game Tyler, from the quick looks it really carries like the successor to blazblue or guilty gear. Honestly I am just excited that their might be a potential P5 in the works that continues from P4 (hopefully they don’t pull a sqeenix and call it p4.2 or P4B, that would get annoying quickly)

I imagine shadow Brandon to just be Josh… but with black eyes and a weird modulated voice… nightmare fuel.

          • Nightmare fuel indeed…

and the game is really good! I’ve found it to be a lot more accessible than any of ASW’s fighting games in the past have been, and the incorporation of Persona’s RPG elements like status effects, all-out-attacks, and “one more” attacks is pretty cool too.

I still haven’t made it through a single chapter of the story mode though, as it is a lot of text to slog through, I’ve stuck mostly to arcade and online, so I could actually do some fighting
