“The problem with your idea is that it’s not my idea.”

In this week’s episode, Brandon, Tom, and Josh sit aghast and befuddled as Zack shares more small print discoveries, we all learn how to successfully (or unsuccessfully) sell amateur wares at a local comic shop, and the gang has a heated discussion about Penny Arcade’s new web-comic-creator reality show concept, “Stripsearch.” Then, after the break, Brandon willingly hands over the editor’s chair to Zack for a big ol’ mess of listener emails, featuring some personal Summertime stories!

  1. Thanks for the heads up on dragon con. At the moment, you guys are the only celebrities that i would genuinely like to meet. So the new plan is: go there, get drunk, take pictures.

also brandon, i hope if makes you feel better to know you are not alone in that you can hurt yourself while doing absolutely nothing. A good friend of mine dislocated his arm while attempting to swat a fly. the saddest note about that is he missed the fly

I found this online figured it would be appropriate to pose with the nerd discussion:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.

So they aren’t sports nerds. They are sports geeks.

If you’re going to play the “official” definition game, here’s what the dictionary has to say:

      NERD (noun -- slang)
      1. a stupid, irritating, ineffectual, or unattractive person.
      2. an intelligent but single-minded person obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit: a computer nerd.

      GEEK (noun -- slang)
      1. a computer expert or enthusiast (a term of pride as self-reference, but often considered offensive when used by outsiders.)
      2. a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, especially one who is perceived to be overly intellectual.
      3. a carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken.

      DORK (noun)
      1. a silly, out-of-touch person who tends to look odd or behave ridiculously around others; a social misfit: If you make me wear that, I’ll look like a total dork! Synonyms: jerk, schmo; nerd, geek.
      2. slang (vulgar): penis.

Wasn’t playing any “official” definition game. I do believe I said I found it on the internet. I didn’t lay any claims of certified understandings. Just said I found it on the net figured it was appropriate to the theme of the episode, but I’m glad you claim your definitions as “official” without any documentation and in my opinion rather arrogant without any justification.

        • Our podcast is on the internet. So what we say must be true, too. Stop getting your definitions from other places, ANDREW.

I really dont see the big issue. Shouldn’t we all just be happy that we all have something in common, as a generation instead of acting somewhat entitled just because we were interested in said “geeky” things before they were mainstream?

My only exception to the rule is when people act like the biggest douchebags about it, best example is Chris Hardwick (and well almost everyone on G4 in my opinion) I know that Brandon has already brought this up but its so true.

          Lastly this happend…

  4. DragonCon hotel hotel room? You don’t need no stinking hotel room.
First time I went I managed to sleep in various screening rooms(Danger Mouse, and a couple animes).
The second time I tried sleeping in screening rooms again, but ended up in a Mallrats LaFours/Jay and Silent Bob chase between me and security(or at least it seemed that way in my exhausted, drunk-ish state of mind) before I lucked out and found my way into a closed but unlocked gaming room and slept under some tables.
Last time I went I slept in my car on the top tier of a Marta parking garage. I made it back every 24 hours to drive out of the garage and around the block to avoid the parking fee.

so apparently I am a starfish… now and forever

HOW DID YOU KNOW!? HOW DO THEY ALWAYS KNOW!?

Yeah that stripsearch idea sounds really, really stupid. Like Egoraptor on the tester only for him to learn that it is completely bullshit. But in the same breath people are going to watch it and it will flourish and quality entertainment will be left to other talent… LIKE YOU GUYS!

Probably one of the funniest episodes in a while.

“It’s the death of an artform!”
“I at my core am an artist! Which means that these games are the devil!”
