Kinect Star Wars: Now This is Podracing? (Also, Kinect Disneyland?)

June 5, 2011

Welp, here we go.

Entertainment Weekly has given us our first look at Kinect Star Wars. It contains lightsabers, force pushing, force… sliding on the floor, uh… shooting from an X-wing by pointing your hands like guns… podracing…

You know what? Let’s just watch this frenchman and Kudo as they demonstrate what this thing is:

In case that spectacular display of sloppy swordsmanship and delayed ducking didn’t totally sell you on the game, here’s the fancy trailer via Gametrailers:

It’s rare that I toot my own horn, but I basically called this one in our last podcast. Not too hard to predict that, rather than pick one or two things to focus on and refine to perfection, they’d chuck as many garbage experiences into one package as possible.

Also that Kinect Disneyland minigame collection looks fun and adorable for little kids (and Tom), but Microsoft had better have some higher-profile and older-skewing Kinect stuff on display during the press conference.

  1. Can’t wait to not pay money for Star Wars. I would really like to try it, but the good licensed Star Wars titles are far and few between (DF2, Jedi Knight, Force Unleashed, etc…). Disneyland Adventure though…. kinda want that one right this minute…

  2. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: The viability of any of these motion controls will be cemented when they make a good Star Wars property with it. The Wii is worthless because that one hasn’t happened yet. Looks like the Kinect is a bust too. It’s your move…. uh… Move.

    • Star Wars shouldn’t be the deciding factor on ANYTHING.

Am I the only person left who does not want to play video games by gyrating in front of my TV? Because I don’t want to play games by jumping up and down in the living room. I started playing video games because I’m uncoordinated and have no sense of rhythm, I already knew I couldn’t be a jedi, you don’t have to rub it in Lucasarts.

PS: when you said frenchman, I didn’t expect it to be in french
